The students of Grades IV to IX of IVWS interacted with renowned international STEAM outreach specialist, Mr. Sam Gibbs, in a session titled “Space Odyssey” at the school auditorium on Friday, 26th April 2024. A scientist with over 20 years of experience in delivering engaging programmes, Mr. Gibbs has worked extensively to develop specially tailored STEAM programmes in Australia, UK, France, Italy, Malaysia, Indonesia, and India.
The students had an enriching experience which started with an outdoor activity of observing the Sun with specially designed glasses. The group then moved indoors for the “The Voyage to The Universe” session, which was an interactive presentation of the solar system, followed by an introduction to the Electromagnetic Spectrum and the properties of visible light. The participants of the workshop were given an understanding of the fundamental concept of Black Holes. They also had the hands-on experience of making rainbow glasses which they then used to observe diffraction and UV colour changing beads.
It was a one-of-a-kind experience for the students who thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the session.
