Rebound The Basketball Tournament

An inter school basketball tournament was organized by IVWS where 7 girls’ teams and 12 boys’ teams from prominent schools in Kolkata, participated with much enthusiasm and zeal.
The girls’ category was held on Day 1 of the tournament. All participating schools namely Birla Bharati, St. Teresa’s, BDM International, Sri Sri Academy, Jewish Girls and Kalikapur Basanti Devi Girls’ High School played, in keeping with the true spirit of the game. St. Teresa’s, IVWS and Sri Sri Academy qualified for round 2.
This was a knock-out tournament, following rules of which, the final was played between St. Teresa’s School and Sri Sri Academy. Both teams put up a tough fight against the other. With sharp moves and techniques, after a nail biting final, Sri Sri Academy was declared winner with 25 points..
The winner’s trophy was handed over by the CEO Mr S. L. Gupta, while the 1st runner up was handed over by the Director Mr Mathew. Harshita Rathi from Sri Sri Academy won the highest scorer’s award with 21 points in the final match alone. The Principal Ms A. George honoured her with a trophy. The end of day 1 was only a call to the beginning of a thrilling day 2.

On Day 2 was the boys’ category. All players from participating schools namely, Julien Day, BDM International, Future Campus, St. Montforts, Birla High, St. Joseph and Mary’s, Sri Sri Academy, Birla Bharati, St Anthony’s and Frank Anthony Public School geared up for their respective matches. Right from the word go, the games were high on the adrenaline rush. The boys proved their metal by keeping up a stiff fight till the last second of their matches.
This too was played in the knock-out format culminating into a final where St. Anthony’s took on Sri Sri Academy. After a fist clenching 40 mins final, St Anthony’s emerged winner with a clear 30 points.
St Anthony’s lifted the Rebound 2K18 Winners trophy- a proud moment for the team, while Sri Sri Academy finished 1st runner up. The trophy for the highest point scorer was won by Sunil. V. Kabadi of St Anthony’s High School.

A thrilling two-day tournament was concluded with the hope of scaling newer heights in the second edition.
