The Installation Ceremony of the Interact Club was held in the school auditorium on 20th July 2023.The occasion was graced by the Chief Guest, Ms. Anjana Saha, Principal of Mahadevi Birla World Academy, past District Governors Prabir Chatterjee and Rajani Mukherjee, District Governor Elect Rotary District 3291 Professor Krishnendu Gupta, DICC Apala Dutta, Rotary Club of Calcutta Chowrenghee President Meena Khemka and distinguished Rotarians from Rotary Club of Calcutta Chowrenghee.
The glittering ceremony opened with the traditional lighting of the lamp accompanied by a Sanskrit shloka that was followed by a dance set to a Rabindra Sangeet.
The Annual Club Report was presented interspersed with performances from last year’s collaborative students, teachers and parents production ‘The Call of the Earth’- that spoke of our concerns about the environment. On this occasion the presentation by our little singers of the ‘ Save the Rivers’ song that was the Global Winner out of 98 shortlisted entries from across the world received thunderous applause. Dr. Sara Ahmed founder of the Living Waters Museum in India and currently on the boards of WaterAid India, Wetlands International South Asia and the Global Network of Water Museums felicitated the little singers.
The new Board was invested by Principal Ms. Reshma Bhattacharya. The past President Neha Agarwal invested the incoming President Prisha Sanyal with the collar. She in turn announced the names of her fellow Board members Debankita Roy, Saanvi and Sanika Basu Chaudhury as Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
The keynote address was delivered by Ms. Anjana Saha whose thoughts were truly inspiring for the young Interactors. This was followed by a speech by District Governor elect Professor Krishnendu Gupta and the DICC Ms. Apala Dutta.
The programme came to an end with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Amita Prasad followed by the National Anthem. It was truly a morning to remember!
