On the occasion of Earth Day, every section of the school was engaged in meaningful discussions and activities on the importance and relevance of 22nd April. Two Special Assemblies were organised at the Junior and Middle School levels in the Basketball Court and School Auditorium. Grade III put together a meaningful presentation with the guidance of their elocution, music and dance teachers to share the significance of the day. They danced to ‘ Moru bijoyero ketan urayo,’ and their bright presence and enthusiasm raised our hopes that they will be responsible citizens upholding their duty of protecting Mother Earth. Grade VI & VIII presented a PPT that spoke of the origin of Earth Day and why it is extremely important for all of us to understand how Nature is being subjected to terrible atrocities by humans and our duty to protect it. A beautiful song ‘yeh dharti, yeh nadiyan, yeh ambaar aur sitare,’ was presented beautifully by the members of the school choir and the students danced to the Rabindra sangeet’ Phire chol maatir taane,’ where Tagore spoke about the undeniable bond between Man and Nature. The programme ended with all present renewing their pledge to protect Mother Earth every single day.
