The workshop was conducted by Mr. Mohamad Noor, specializing in Electrical & Electronic Engineering having experience of 25 years in electronic industries. He is a qualified SKM3 Drone Piloting / Accredited Trainer HRD. He is also the Deputy President of the NGO MUDAS( Malaysia).MUDAS represents all UAV Drone user interests in Malaysia. It also acted as a channel between the government and the drone community in Public policy especially in UAV Drone flight operation compliance.
The students learnt about law & guidelines, history, technology, applications of Drones and able to build and fly a nano Quadcopter Drone. Students were given various activities after the introductory session. The basic principles were discussed like how drones float and fly through the air, how the shape of an Aerofoil plays an important role in lifting the body of an aircraft, various forces created when the propeller works on aircraft, basic science principles used in producing lifting such as Continuity principle and Bernoulli principle, different type of drones such as Multi-rotor Drone, Fixed Wing Drone, Single-rotor Drone and Fixed Wing Multi-rotor VTOL .
Each student was given 90 sec to use the simulator and control the drone with the two joysticks using throttle up/down, yaw left/right, pitch forward/backward, and roll left/right functions.
The facilitator also taught the children and gave them hands-on learning on the drone flying control and each group consisting of two students were given a drone kit to assemble and fly the drone. Students had a very enriching learning experience through this workshop.
