Indus Valley World saw a full house this day, with parents gracing the celebration of Independence Day. A prize distribution ceremony for the academic proficiency category for achievers through pre-primary to grade XII was held. The celebrations opened with the hoisting of the tricolour followed by the National Anthem. The cultural programme then commenced with a group song that filled the atmosphere with a deep sense of love and gratitude for the country. This was followed by declamations in vernacular which brought back the glory of yesteryears juxtaposed with a few thought provoking questions on the new-found fame.
Impeccably choreographed dance performances followed which depicted the country’s journey from darkness to light. Grades VIII and IX had put up truly commendable performances.
The final act of the day was put together by grade XI students. This unified script highlighted the parents of the new born free India on the night of August 15, 1947, till today. Characters like Raja Rammohan Roy, Kadambari Devi, Prof S N Bose, Netaji, Satyajit Ray, Abdul Kalam and the likes came alive on stage, all revealing their little stories about parenting free India. The 3 songs and 2 dances incorporated in the script, made the experience richer.
The air breathed reverence in the name of the country within the walls of Indus Valley World School that day. Kudos to our students for having been successful in rekindling the flame of patriotism in one and all.
